People keep trying to change the behavior instead of dealing with the cause behind it. Instead understanding and utilising the forces of pain and pleasure will allow you to create lasting changes and improvements. Why do people procrastinate? Because they believe that taking action now would be more painful than putting it off. What stops them starting a new business, diet, home business online opportunity etc? They know that doing these things will ultimately bring them pleasure. Yet they put it off because their fears are greater in their mind than the pleasure of seizing the opportunity. For many the fear of loss is actually greater than the desire to succeed. They will not risk losing money they have to earn substantially more. Or indeed they will not risk failing in an effort to earn money form home. As long as they do not try they have not failed. The result unfortunately is that they definitely will not succeed either and in that there is a failure they are ignoring. We need to understand the concepts of pain and pleasure and use them to our advantage instead of having them rule us. We constantly weigh up the pain and pleasure associated with our actions. Has it got a pleasurable outcome, but we avoid the pain of getting there? Or is it something you would derive pleasure from doing but would lead to pain eventually? Likewise when doing an internet marketing campaign, we need to create an association of pleasure in the mind of our target audience in relation to the product we are selling. Convincing them that it will bring them pleasure will be a major influence in their decision to buy. When in business however, like a home business online opportunity, we need to harness the effects of pleasure and pain to lead us to success.

Our emotions drive us instead of our intellect. We reach for a bar of chocolate because we have linked pleasure to it which overrides our intellect telling us it is bad for us. We need to direct our responses to pain and pleasure. Otherwise we are continually reacting to our environment. Be proactive, not reactive when it comes to our success. Make a plan for your own life – do not let life be something that happens to you. The imagined pain and effort of taking the first step is well rewarded with the pleasure of success.
